ok sounds like u r trying to record both midi and audio at same time from the keyboard...in that case u should set up a midi track and then a audio track to record and hear the audio...unless u r trying just to use the external keyboard sounds on playback...if thats the case u would plug in ur headphones into your keyboard or audio out from ur keyboard to a amp...but that dont sound right.defeats records audio to the daw.

I can tell you how I am doing this although I'm not sure if it's the "right" way.

I run the midi out from my interface into my keyboard and then the audio outs from my keyboard into the stereo channel of my interface. then in logic I go into the Environment window and create a new midi instrument in the midi instrument drop down on the left (mine always opens up to the mixer window as a default) Click New > Instrument, then I set up the midi port to send audio to the port I have my keyboards midi plugged into.

To record this I create a new external midi track for the sequencer (so I can quantize and correct notes if I need to) and I create an audio track with the stereo inputs my keyboard is running into. I always enable input monitoring so I don't have to record enable the track to hear what I'm playing. Then I record into the sequencer (I use my midi keyboard for this, not the synth keyboard, since my midi controller has more keys) Once I get the sound I'm looking for I record enable my audio track and record the audio from the keyboard into logic.

It sounds like a lot of work but it really only takes a minute to set it up. Like I said, I don't know if this is the "proper" way to do this, but it works for me.

do i need to transfer the midi region to the audio region to hear the play back.

If you need audio monitoring of your device the "Software monitoring" in the Logic Preferences must be enabled. You can switch on the Audio Track monitoring button (labeled as "I" at the bottom of the channel strip).
ive tried recording the keyboard audio thru and audio track it works just cant quantize it like u said and i think ive already tried it before but ill give it a go again

This is wrong conception. To be able to quantize or do any processing like that, you need to record your performance using a midi track in Logic.

1. I hope you have created some Multi or Standard Instrument so you can edit (quantize) the midi region etc. When you decide that your midi work is O.K you can record it as audio using the Audio Track you are talking about.

2. The other way (new one) is to use the "External" plugin inserted on a Software Instrument.
This way combines midi and audio i.e you record/draw the midi on the Software Instrument track and is outgoing from the Software Instrument channel strip. In this method you must use "Real Time" bounce cause you use external midi device.

3. If decide to use the second method you can bounce the audio but you also can record the audio on an Audio Track if route the Software Instrument to a Bus and assign the Audio Track "Input" to record from that Bus.
