as I am quoted here, please allow me to comment on this.
We currently know of a handful of people who have issues with activation that we cannot solve with standard techsupport practises.
Jim was one of them, he exchanged his hardware and could then activate without any problem.
We have thousands of customers using QuarkXPress 8.12 on Snow Leopard, so I doubt there's a general issue. I am using the same combination at home (with an activation based QuarkXPress).
We are working with all customers to resolve the activation issues and find out, whether there's a common theme. If there is, we will post the result in our forums at
