Problem typing certain contractions

I'm using Pages'09. When I try typing the word "couldn't", it auto corrects the word so that it now reads "could't". When I type the word "shouldn't", it auto corrects so that the word now reads "should'". I don't notice this with any other contractions.
Is this a known bug in Pages? It's sure bugging me! I can go back and type in the missing letters, but I shouldn't have to.
Thanks,
Mark

Look in:

+Menu > Pages > Preferences > Auto-Correction > Automatically use spell checker suggestions/Symbol and text substitution+

One or the other is making the changes.

If it is the first you have accidentally had the spell checker learn a few bad cases. You can clear that by selecting a sample of a wrong spelling and going:

+Menu > Edit > Spelling > Spelling… > Unlearn+

Peter,
Thanks for your prompt reply! I've checked my preferences and these contractions aren't listed in the Symbol and text substitution list. I tried unchecking that box and still have the problem, so I assume it has to do with the spell checker suggestions.

When I do a spell check the word "could't" does not show up as being found in the spelling dictionary. Odd, since that's what it is automatically changed to.

Finally, I tried having the spell checker "unlearn" the bad spelling. When I follow the path you suggested, I don't find an "Unlearn" option. The four buttons I have are: Ignore, Learn, Find Next, and Change

Anything else I should try?
Thanks,
Mark

I'm not quite sure which example you're meaning here Peter. When I have "Couldn't" selected and do a spell check, there isn't a spelling error that appears. When I have "could't" selected, it gives me 3 possible corrections for it: could', couldst, and couldn't.

Still can't figure out why Pages is automatically changing a word that is in it's dictionary to one that it knows is incorrect.

I appreciate your hanging in there with me Peter!
