Magic Mouse mini tracking

Hi!

I've been using my magic mouse for about 2 to 3 weeks now with no problem. Starting today the mouse stop tracking properly. The pointer moves but in very small increments. It is not practical for use so I had to plug-in my old mouse. The scrolling still worked fine though..

I installed BetterTouchTool software about a week ago to add the expose functionality and it worked perfectly. Just to make sure my new issue wasn't because of the BTT software I uninstalled it and rebooted and it still is not tracking correctly. I don't have any other bluetooth devices enabled on my MBP nor are there any within range.

I posted this to see if anyone else is having or had this issue and can help me resolve it.

Thank you!

I have had the same issue off and on with my Magic Mouse for the past 6 months. I started tracking poorly this morning and by noon was barely tracking at all. All diagnostics noted it was working properly. About ready to call Apple, I suddenly noticed an almost invisible hair across the tracking window on the underside. I shut it off, blew out the hair with compressed air, turned it on again, and it is now tracking perfectly. We have two long haired cats at home and it appears to have been a hair from one of them. I believe I have found the cause for this intermittent problem!

Tolkan, the mouse pad was cloth over rubber, pretty typical. I switched to a plastic coated Power Computing one I had, but had the same issues. I'm actually starting to wonder if it isn't very fine cat hair that is causing the problem. The last time it happened, I noticed some very thin hair near the laser eye. I'll post back if it turns out to be hair.

Wow - thanks for the tip. I was having a similar problem with my magic mouse. It wouldn't track vertically, but horizontal was fine. I tried a couple of surfaces and turned it on and off with no luck. The batteries were fresh and showed 95%.

Saw this post and blew on the underside of the mouse and it is working fine now. Thanks!
