cannot move projects to external hard drive

cannot move projects to external hard drive

Hi,
In the past, I have been able to successfully move projects to a connected hard drive (Mac Pro) using Cmd drag onto the drive. When I try it tonight, I get the spinning beach ball and then often a quit.
I have tried repairing permissions, but that did not help.
Any advice welcome

Apologies for asking again, but I am usually very impressed and by the helpful replies I have had when I have requested help. I can COPY files ok from one hard drive to another, but cannot move, I have deleted the .plist and also repaired permissions on both drives. Helpful advice would be much appreciated. Phil

Anything moved from one drive to another (Flash media, external or internal drive or partition or networked drive) will be a copy. The original will remain until deleted.

Thanks for reply. However if you hold down command when moving, it should move it, not copy it

Whenever, i add an external it shows up in library with the yellow triangle on it not allowing me do move or copy anything to it. Have u had this problem?

Make sure your drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
