FCP 7 and editing MPEG 2 files...

Hello,

Is there any way to edit MPEG 2 files in FCP 7 without having to convert them before import?

I'm curious as to whether I can download a CODEC that will allow me to edit MPEG 2 files in FCP.

No. MPEG 2 is a Long GOP format not suitable for editing.

No. They must be converted. Use MPEG Streamclip -download link and tutorial [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2070861&tstart=0].

No there isn't.

Convert them into an editable format.

MPEG2 is to computational intensive.
