ok, so my friend unplugged my Ipod as it was syncing and I think it screwed it up. Now there is just a red X on the screen with "www.apple.com/support/ipod" beneath it. I tried to fix it by resetting it but nothing happens. I get the apple screen, but then it goes right to the screen with the red X. Anyone know how to fix this or is my Ipod screwed?
Hello Kalderick,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
[iPod Displays a Red "X" Icon|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1463]
A *red X* icon on your iPod usually means a failing hard drive. In order to regain full functionality of your iPod, you will have to replace the hard drive.
MY IPOD DID THE EXACT SAME THING. HOWEVER IT WAS DONE SYNCING BUT NOT EJECTED YET. I DO AS WELL WANNA KNOW WHAT TO DO. APPLE GAVE NO SUPPORT UNTIL I GIVE A CREDIT CARD #. HOW DOES IT GET FIXED BY PAYING THEM OR WHAT????
Apple icon appears after troublshooting the with the instructions given and afterwards shows a red X with a red circle around it with the website www.apple.com/support/ipod beneath it

My friends daughter's ipods is doing the same thing, I done the 5r's as suggested on the web site, but nothing, it won't even show up on I tunes, so we can not reset it back to the factory settings (again as suggested in the support site).
Mine has the red x as well, and won't restore or anything. Bad hard drive? Is this apple's way to getting people to buy a newer version? Apple... make gear that lasts, or make a better warranty if it doesn't.
