So I'm having a problem with iTunes.

So I'm having a problem with iTunes.Every time I try to download a song from the store, the download almost finishes, and then as its processing the file, I get the Windows message saying that "iTunes has stopped working". So I lose the download, but not only that, I end up having to pay a buck each time I want to try. I'm getting sick of flushing good money after bad.

I can't make heads or tails of the online supports - I am NOT tech-headed AT ALL - and I basically wonder if anyone else has had this problem and can help me find a solution.

The only new thing is that I tried to download a song a few days ago and it tells me that the file is corrupted; the song shows up as a pending download every time I check for new downloads, but it never works, and it ends up telling me that it's corrupted every time. I have no idea how to get it to stop trying to download the song - could that have anything to dowith it? I suspect so, as the rest of iTunes seems to work fine.

Any thoughts? Thanks,

HP Pavilion

Hmmmm. What *security software* are you running on the PC, D? Is it ESET's NOD32 or Smart Security by any chance?

Trying to steadily work out a bundh of the possible causes. Your particular message is fairly generic, so there's all manner of things that might be causing it. It doesn't sound, though, like you've got one of the ESET interference issues.

Can you check something for me? (In the interests of narrowing in on possible culprits.)

Head into your Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Click "Problem History". Double click on each of your recent iTunes problem reports.

Do they all seem to be giving the same information?

If so, paste the contents of a problem report here so we can see if it casts a bit more light on what's going on for you.

Same problem here! Frustrating! Because of this can't purchase music from iTunes (you'd think there's be quick response since this prob prevents us spending $$). BTW podcasts download fine...just purchased music is the problem. Here is the problem report if anybody can figure this out:

Just purchased music ... by any chance, do you have *BitDefender Internet Security 2010* installed on that PC? If so, see the following document:

I thought I would add my name to the list of those suffering from this problem - I am running iTunes on a PC with Windows 7.

I first noticed the problem when trying to download the 'free' 12 days of Christmas videos. the files downloaded successfully, but crashed iTunes when 'processing' the completed file.

I am glad that I am not alone and trust that apple will fix this fault very soon.

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know I too am having the same issues. Its so irritating! I have tried itunes on all computers in our house to download songs - running Vista on some and windows 7 on others. I think all have the Shield Deluxe 2010 - perhaps this is the problem?

I emailed itunes support - they weren't particularly helpful, just kept saying over and over to ensure I had the latest version of itunes installed (which I do). They ended up crediting my account for the failed cd i couldn't download.

They also mentioned to turn the firewall off - my windows firewall was on but itunes was able to operate through it. I'm not a tech head either - perhaps someone knows about something with the Shield Deluxe anti virus that I have to disable - perhaps this is causing the problem?

Glad too that I am not alone.

Yes, go to the Shield Deluxe website or contact their support. They should be able to help you. Find out how to set up Shield Deluxe to allow itunes. I am not familiar with that Shield Deluxe software.

So I'm having a problem with iTunes.
