Drag it from the Applications folder to the trash. There will still be
some preference files and caches left around but they can be found and
also deleted.
i deleted my firefox and downloaded and started another one, but it had all the same settings (bookmarks, skin) for some reason, and alas, the bug is still there.
so how do i start it with all the setting restarted?
If you delete the Firefox folder within Application Support, that should purge all of your settings from within Firefox. That in addition to reinstalling the application should resolve any issues you're having with Firefox, unless the issue is not with the application. But then you've at least isolated it.
JasonFear and Adam, I don't know how to go to Firefox by clicking on those folders. I just type Firefox on the Finder and it appears. And I don't know how it would be different if I deleted it by this or by the method you guys are proposing.
If you trashed Firefox, emptied trash and re-installed, you would still have all your preferences because those are located in the path both of us directed you to.
When you have Finder open, you should have 3 categoried in the left/blue area.
1. Devices
2. Places
3. Search For
In Category #2 your user folder should have a little "house" next to it. Click on it.
Now you will have a new list in the 2nd(non-blue) column. Click on Library.
(By the way, when someone sends info like both of us have, it is referring to this path that I am explaining to you.)
Now find Preferences. Click on it.
Now find com.apple.firefox.plist
That is what you need to delete or even just put it on your desktop for temporary keeping.
The other poster gave you similar advice, and it involves the same principle to find it. FOLLOW THE PATH.
So what exactly are you trying to do within Firefox? I think that is what the other poster was asking for, not the link of the bug you are dealing with.
I'm trying to fix the bug of the firefox, because it's inconvenient.
I tried this by removing suspected add-ons but it didn't work.
I tried this also by installing a new firefox but it started with all the previous settings and the bug intact, and I don't know how to get a brand new firefox.
