Can't print to .pdf or printer??? Memory problem????
For the first time ever I have a problem when I tried to print an Apple Works document, which I had set to comprise of a single document of 12 pages in total. Normally I can do this without any bother but today I had the 2.9mb document ready to print. I pressed print and the printer processed to page 5 then gave an error message "There is not enough memory to complete this operation". I tried to print to .pdf also got the same message.
I use the multiple page document in Appleworks to make large maps or posters for my class. This is a vitally important activity for me , so any help would be brilliant.
Thanks
Dave
An "out of memory" error never means you are out of memory. It usually means your printer driver is buggy. What printer do you have? See if there is an update to the drive. Try setting up generic color postscript printer for printing to PDF. You don't have Adobe software installed do you?
The plot thickens! I have just saved the Appleworks document to a usb key and transferred it to my Powerbook. The powerbook is running 10.3.9. I could save the document to .pdf and I am now printing out all 12 A4 sheets , which will assemble together to form a large map of France for class tomorrow.
Is this some issue with Appleworks and all the functions not being supported by Leopard?
This would be dreadful as I use Appleworks for class projects all the time. Pages will NOT do the same. You cannot make a document of say..5 pages by 4 pages and enlarge a map to cover all pages and then print it off. A terrible oversight for the classroom teacher.
Any thoughts?
Have you been able to print on 10.5 before? If this is a new problem there may be a way to fix it. Appleworks has been discontinued. I'm sure you should be able to fine software to print a large PDF in sections.
You might want to look at PStill. Tile printing a PDF seems to be an uncommon capability. I think Adobe Acrobat (not reader) and some of the other expensive Adobe tools can do it. I will keep looking because I used to do this sort of thing myself and I would like to have this capability again.
The answer is yes. I have used both features. From Appleworks and more often to .pdf and saved it to the desktop. I can save a Pages doc of 12 pages with no problem but they are not in one large doc but individual pages in a newsletter.
Thanks

I checked the link and tried to get my Appleworks document sorted out however I got the following message " File too large - 10MB maximum, must be a PDF!" My problem is that I cannot either print my document to the printer itself nor to .pdf on my Mac.
Thanks for help anyway
