Can't open pps. file in email

Have you got Powerpoint? Or Keynote?

If you don't have either of those try open office http://www.openoffice.org/

If you just bought iMac it should come with Pages and a demo copy of Office which may need to be register to get it to work.

I have found and read have openoffice or neooffice crashes on OSX 10.6. I opened a gmail account as it will open these in the document feature. But I am angry that Apple didn't come up with a solution for this.

Thats why an earlier poster suggested OpenOffice which works just fine.

Sorry. I am not feeling well and I get edgy. BTW I did find 2 online places that handle .pps files, one is google in their docs section and the other is zoho.com.

Its hard to tell as it depends upon how the audio was encoded into the PPS file - a common mistake is to fail to attach the audio/video content into the file rather than just linking to it.

Are you able to extract the media out of the slideshow ? You should be able to open the file, rather than play it automatically.

I don't know how to extract the media from the attachment, but I shall try.I do know that a friend with a Windows machine gets the audio when I forwarded the email to him.

Thats good - they have encoded the audio into the show which means you can get at it albeit it can be tricky to extract it !

Thanks for your help. I downloaded Neo Office and it works fine provided I open the file from the Neo Office menu bar - File>Open. It does not open the audio if I designate it to open via Finde >Get Info>Open With and just click on the icon to open it.
