Hard drive icon dissappeared!

Hi,

I have recently bought a new Mac Pro running Snow.

I noticed that i did not have a hard drive icon on my desktop, so I opened up a window and tried to drag the hard drive icon (on the left) onto my desktop. And the icon simply vanished. I can't find it anywhere!

I've obviously done something wrong.. any help to retrieve it would be appreciated.

Hi

By default Snow Leopard's Finder Preferences are 'set' so as to not show you anything on the Desktop other than the Dock. If you want to enable this feature, click on the Finder menu, select Preferences and the rest is fairly obvious.

Also, when you dragged your drive from the left-hand side of the window (the "Sidebar"), you simply removed it from the Sidebar. Once you have followed Antonio's instructions, you can drag the hard drive from the desktop back into the Sidebar to add it back to that list.

Alternatively, while you are in the Finder Preferences, click the Sidebar icon at the top, then recheck the box for Hard disks. Your drive will be re-added to the Sidebar. You can add and remove anything you want in the Sidebar.
