Where to find a powered Firewire 800 hub?

Please tell me where I can buy a powered Firewire 800 hub. I see USB 2 & Firewire 400 hubs all over the net, but can find no 800 ones.

I have several external HDs connected to my Mac Pro & they are running well below their capacity because I am out of Firewire 800 outlets.

Mac Pro 2X2.8 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

maybe a PCIe card would be better?

the sonnet tango adds 3 FW800 and 2 USB (never enough of those) for 110$

the aaxeon adds 2 FW800 and one 400 for 68$

..

do you have FW400 drives in your mix? Do you daisy chain them into the FW800 drives? A 400 drive in an 800 chain will bring all the drives down to 400.

note that plugging FW drives into their own outlet on a hub is the same as daisy chaining as far as bandwidth sharing. 10 drives in a hub working at the same time will give you 1/10th the bandwidth, the same as if they were daisy chained.

in a card, bandwidth is independant.

Hi Gloria,

Are Lindy products sold in whichever country you live? And how many ports do you need?

In the UK you can buy a 3 port Firewire 800 Repeater Hub direct from Lindy for £49.99 + carriage. It is also sold by Misco and Jigsaw, and can be used either bus-powered or self powered, using the included power supply.

I hope this information is useful.
