PDF pages rotated 90 degrees?

I'm a fairly new MAC user and its all mostly good. Occasionally I run into something that seems like it should be easy but perhaps to my vestigial MS ways I can't for the life of me figure how to do it?

Case in point. When I am in safari and open a PDF it opens in a program called preview?
I can generally get by with this program but frequently pdf's open and I find that the pages have been rotated 90 degrees? I can turn my laptop sideways to read the thing but that seems unnecessary. Do I have to download a dedicated Adobe reader or something else to get this functionality?

Thanks, Steve

Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

When in Preview, you can go to "Tools" on the menu bar and select "Rotate Left" or "Rotate Right" from the drop down menu bar and rotate your document.

However, I'm not sure why your documents are opening that way. Possibly someone will be able to give you a preference setting so these documents can open correctly in the first place.

Good luck!
