Internet connection lost after sleep - Ethernet

I have just started using a new router (a Linksys). My problem is that after the iMac comes out of sleep I cannot get an internet connection using ethernet. It is not the router, a PC connected at the same time does not lose its connection and the internet light on the router stays lit.

When I lose the connection I cannot access the router's web page @ 192.168.1.1. The admin login box appears but with a name that relates to a previous router I used. I assume that this is part of the problem.

Any ideas?

Had the same problem on my first i5. Only a reboot would fix it. Of course when I went to the Genius bar, after waiting 2 days for the appointment, it worked fine and they thought I was being a complainer or picky or something -- the various times the Genius tried to put the i5 to sleep and wake it, the wired ethernet worked perfectly. But I pressed and insisted on a return/refund which I managed to get without the restocking fee. They did it begrudgingly, I assure you...

I'm having the same problems on a new 27". Usually after coming out of sleep or being powered on. Today when moving to a new router, it took hours to get a connection, to the point where I was starting to think the new router was faulty. Have tested the cables, ports etc, so I think there's either a bug or the network card is faulty.

I have the same problem with my new i7. My router, a time capsule, is not the problem since my other iMac (a late-2006) has no such issues, nor does my macbook. It doesn't always happen, but often enough to be a real pain - all network connectivity is gone. The only workaround I've found is to turn ipv4 off in System Preferences -> Network and then turn it back on again. I am only using Ethernet. Anyone else having this problem?

Same problem here. I think it's a problem with Snow Leopard. Every single time my computer wakes from sleep it takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes for the computer to connect to the internet. I seriously doubt it's a router problem. I never had this problem with earlier versions of SN/Panther or my equipment. Hopefully Apple is listening and hopefully there is a software patch for the problem!

I'm having the same problem with my 20" iMac running Leopard (10.5.8), so the problem isn't limited to SL users. I generally restart my modem at least once to get the connection back. I just set 'Configure IPv6' to Off based on advice on a similar thread, so we'll see how that works. I'll post back if it does (and probably come back to whine if it doesn't).
