I am trying to view wvx files on my PowerBook G4 with OS 10.3.9 and QuickTime 6.5.1. When I tried to install Flip4Mac for OS 10.3.9, I got a message saying it couldn't be installed because QuickTime needed to be version 7.0 or later. I click on update software for QuickTime and my screen flashes but doesn't do anything else. I am a very novice user, so please help me in very plain English! Thanks!

Webopedia says the WVX extension identifies a metafile. That mostly
means a small file that points to the real file on the web. It's purely
a Windows thing. Ask your correspondents to (1) send the
file itself instead of a pointer or (2) send you the URL so you can
find it yourself.

Another possibility - see if TextEdit will open.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Hi Lisa,

First of all, Welcome to the  Discussion forums!

Make sure the version of Flip4Mac that you are trying to install is (If you are running Mac OS X, version 10.3.9 or earlier) version 2.2.1.11.

You can find this version in the list of older downloads found at:

http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm

perhaps you have just tried to install the wrong version of Mac OS 10.3.9.
