This error indicates that the permissions are not set correctly.

    Try the following;
-Using the finder, navigate to /Library/Startupitems/HP IO and highlight the folder (don't open it)
-Use File/Get Info (or command-I) to bring up a new dialog box
-At the bottom right is a lock icon, click it and enter Admin password when prompted.
-In the Sharing and Permissions section make sure the following is there
    -+system=Read & Write
    -+wheel=Read Only
    -+everyone=Read Only
-Click the gear icon and choose to apply to all enclosed items.

After that, try a reboot and see if the error still occurs

Please don't post in all caps. That's equivalent to shouting and really difficult to read. As to your popup, George Murray provided the answer. If that doesn't work, reinstall the HP software and the latest HP Driver Update from Apple.

i did the change the permisions and doesnt work, and i install again dvd hp systems and when i was updating the driver appear another windows and it say :
" the system extension " systems/library/extensions/wd1394hpdrivver.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. please try reinstalling it or contact the products vendor

Then, reinstall 10.6.0, followed by 10.6.1 or the 10.6.2 COMBO, run Software Update and install any thing that shows up there, repair permissions, and restart.

well i did install the snow leopard from 10.6 and update it to 10.6.2
i did run software update and install everything, went to repair disc and permisions and it said :

Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.

and everytime that i turn on my mac, after the start up appear the same windows

/LIBRARY/STARTUPITEMS/HP IO" HAS NOT BEEN STARTED BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER SECURITY SETTINGS.

    with HP IO
    HP Trap Monitor
    PACESupport
    Parallels
    ParallelsTransporter
    VirtualBox

Sorry, I don't do windows, so I can't help with that. Try the Windows Compatible Technology forums.

well i think that this is the solution
    Try the following;

After that, try a reboot and see if the error still occurs

but i did it with every folder

    with HP IO
    HP Trap Monitor
    PACESupport
    Parallels
    ParallelsTransporter
    VirtualBox
and after that , no more windows when i start up my computer.

and disck utility and verif disk and repair disk

and VM fusion i just uninstall it and install it again, but the virtual machine never delete, i was worried about if it was deleted, but when you uninstall the vm fusion it no delete your virtual memory, just delete the vm fusion software

I just installed apple's latest security update - i think 2010-001 - and just started getting the same message as described on this thread. I have no HP stuff and the startup items folder seems empty as far as I can tell...but it is really annoying getting this message. This never happened before the update so I have No Doubt that the security update is responsible for this problem. DOES ANYONE know how to get rid of this message if there are no offending folders in the 'startup items' folder??? This is the real pain and not the first time that an Apple security update has caused havoc with one of my macs... I've gotten to the point where I hesitate to do these updates when my machine is running ok. PLEASE HELP.
