HD movies on the Ipod

I using the 80GB Ipod classic with a docking station on my flat screen TV to watch movies that I get from Itunes store.
My question is, if I download a HD movie on Itunes will it play HD on the Ipod or is it just a waste on money?

Thanks
Gus

Do you think MAYBE Apple would make this clear to purchasers before they buy the HD version?

I have a **load of HD tv shows now that I can't put on my Ipod to watch on my flat screen TV. Same as poster above, I was using my IPOD to play videos on my tv, using a docking station.

Now I have 10 HD videos that I can't play on my IPOD, NO "Apple TV" and my laptop CERTAINLY isn't capable of playing HD. *** Apple.

Way to bilk an extra buck out of all of us guys. If you are reading this comment...EMAIL me oh gods of Apple and tell us why you are failing to be transparent on this issue!
