Time changed automatically to 1 Jan 2001.

Today when i started my computer its date was set to 1st Jan 2001? It shows me an alert that there may be few apps which will not run as expected, then i have to give my wireless router password again to run my internet, after running the internet it automatically corrected my date, i was wondering why this happen?

I dont know if this question belong to this section, so if its not correct please help me to put in appropriate section, thanks.

macbook white, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

this could be a problem with your PRAM battery.
first, change the time to the correct one in date and time system preferences and
reset PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

if this happens again you'll need to replace your PRAM battery. I suggest you take your macbook to a repair shop for that one.

I don't know for sure what it was. if it was a one time isolated event I would not pay attention to it. but as i said, if it happens again my main suspicion would be that the PRAM battery is bad and needs to be replaced.
