Epson stylus photo R300

I used to be able to print with my epson connected to the Airport Extreme. But now I cannot. We have 4 computers on the network that all used to be able to share this printer.

The printer shows up in Rendezvous, but when I select it it says there are no drivers.

I have the latest Epson drivers installed. Could a recent upgrade in airport software have triggered this?

This is what worked for us when we had a similar problem. I got this off the OSX 10.3 Printing and Faxing Board. It was posted by Paul Colin.

1. To to your home folder
Home/Library/printers
If there is an application with your printers name on it delete it.

2. Go to Home/Library/preferences
Delete:
com.apple.print.custompapers.plist
com.apple.print.customprests.plist
com.apple.print.favorites.plist
com.apple.print.PrinterProxy."name of_yourprinter".plist
com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist

He suggested emptying the Trash, I didn't because I am a wimp and it still worked.

After we rebooted it worked.

He indicated that you may have to reinstall the drivers if this does not work

Hope this helps

I have an Epson Photo Printer R340. Can I use it with an Epson Bluetooth Photo Print Adapter? The literature that came with the printer says I can use the Epson adapter, but Epson's literature about the adapter says the adapter works with the R300, but does not list the R340. So I am looking for advice. At present I am connected using Bonjour and it works fine.

Maybe? I bought my airport extreme for just this reason, print sharing with the USB hub. I have mac ( me ) linux (me ) kids xp, wife xp, and other odd OS's.

I just NEVER worked right. The macs did, not xp. I gave up on it. I was using a HP895Cse that served me well for a number of years. It finally croaked and the yellow went away. ( I was using a D-link parallel port printer server box - Worked awsome. Best 59 bucks I ever spent ).

So I set out to buy a new printer. Amazingly in Aug 2005, I could not find a printer ANYWERE local that had a parallel port. All were USB. Well, I know it will work on the mac. If the kids need to print school stuff, I'll just network into thier machines and get the file and print them..

I bought an Epson Stylus R200. Plugged it into the mac worked fine.

For giggles, plugged it into the Airport Extreme. Worked.!! Cool. My emac and ibook found it. I had some windows connectivity but no printed results.
Searched Apple and found Bonjour for Windows. ( Bonjour is the OSX 10.4 "replacement"?? for Rendezvouis (sp?). Loaded it on the XP machines, walla!

I finally justified my purchase of the Airport Extreme.

Here is what I would suggest:

Upgrade to OSX Tiger 10.4
Don't use the Airport Extreme and buy a cheap D-link or Netgear or whoever
wireless 54Mbs hub w/ print server. It works here, but both of my macs have 10.4+ and Airport Extreme has the latest "firmware".

I honestly don't know the difference between Bonjour and the Rendezvouis product.

Alan:

You cannot check ink levels (or anything else that uses the printer utility software supplied by the printer manufacturer) if the printer is connected to an Airport Express or Extreme Base Station. You will have to connect the printer directly to the USB port of your Mac or PC, then run the utility, to find out which ink tank is low.

Thank you. Good question and gives me pause. My printer is connected to the airport extreme base station, and the coonection works fine, even a room or two away. I do use bluetooth with my keyboard and mouse. I'd like to bring the printer into my little office and get rid of some wires. Bluetooth would be a way to do that without having to do some rewiring. Maybe I should let well enough alone, although I like the flexibility I get when using the laptop(s) in other locations around the house. Some do tell me bluetooth may be a bit slower, especially when doing pictures.
