Huawei E220 HSDPA USB modem Crashes Snow Leopard

Iv noticed that ever since updating to Snow Leopard, if I boot up the Macbook Pro with the Huawei E220 dongle in the usb port I can connect to it with no probs. However, if I pull out the dongle and insert it again in a usb port, the notebook immediately shut down. I then proceeded to install 64bit driver (Mobile Connect ver 4.15) and the same situation occurs. I can replicate the issue having booted up both in 32/64 bit modes and whether it is connected to the power supply or not.

I was not having this prob on the previous Leopard OS 10.5X. The Huawei website is not of much help and tried emailing them with no reply from them.

Any ideas?

Macbook Pro 2009, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 4GB RAM, 2.93 ghz, 320 7200pm HD
