I have been trying to make a multisession disc with the aid of 'Disc utility' I have done this before but now everytime I burn the folder containing the items it also burns other items from my other playlists in my itunes library. Also I am only able to play it back on my computer but not on my CD player. Can anyone help? I am using CD-R which is what I used in the past
I think you would have better luck burning this in iTunes. Create your playlist and burn from within iTunes...and make sure your Burn setting is on Audio CD.

I'm a new convert to version 9 (just upgraded from Panther to Snow Leopard). It used to be under iTunes Prefs > Advanced > Burning. Not sure if it's the same. I think it may now be under iTunes Prefs > General. Perhaps someone here could confirm (or deny).
iTunes offers several options when burning a disc: Audio CD, MP# disc and data disc. The one that will work in most CD players is the Audio CD. If it's a data disc, it will only be useful for restoring the songs to your library. If it's an MP# disc, it might play in your audio player. Audio CD is your best bet. Another tip is to avoid using rewritable discs when burning.
If your idea of a multidisc is the same as mine I don't think any CD player would play it. My idea of a multidisc is a disc that would appear on the desktop (or wherever) as multiple discs-as if several disc had been loaded. This is achieved by burning in TAO (track at once) mode rather than DAO (disc at once) mode.
CDs meant for playing in CD players should be DAO.
All players will recognize an Audio Disc, which holds 80 minutes of music, burned with .AIFF or .WAV files. Burning an Audio Disc in iTunes will make this conversion from your iTunes library files for you.
It also plays on the CD player in my car. The stereo in my living room is top quality but a little old. Was the standard for audio CDs changed at all? The stereo plays the original CD fine, but not the copy made with iTunes.
