yes i have tried that several times. i just finished another uninstall and then a windows checkdsk and am starting to get ready to reinstall and see what happens. any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

well i thought i was all set-after doing the windows checkdsk and a full uninstall and reinstall of itunes, itouch was recongnized and completly synced. all of my music was put on itouch.
well then my battery died on the laptop and when i pluged it back in, i got a different error 0xE8000065 and now it is not showing up when i connect it.
i am so frustrated. i bought 3 of these and am ready to send them back!
    please help!

Try them with a different computer. If they work then the problem is with your laptop.

Are you connecting to a hub or directly to a port on the Toshiba?

Just a note, not a good idea to connect and sync while the battery is low on a laptop.

+Try them with a different computer. If they work then the problem is with your laptop.+ the other 2 work on my work computer-this one doesnt work on mine, works, friends and sons

+Are you connecting to a hub or directly to a port on the Toshiba?+ direct port

+Just a note, not a good idea to connect and sync while the battery is low on a laptop.+ battery good

so i tired again this am and it was not recognized. i did the holding the sleep button and home button thing. this made itune recognize it but said it was an ipod in restore mode. i clicked to restore no i got "The iopd could not be restore-unknown error 6011"

If this particular one is not working on yours or other computers then you probably need to get it serviced or replaced. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store.

i took it to the apple store over an hour away on friday night-they did their restore and said nothing is wrong with it. i see alot of stuff in the feeds about issues with the firewire and new version of itunes and vista ect...

Try again at the Apple Store but this time take your laptop with you.

    Hey,

I had the same problems (new computer - Windows 7 + Iphone 3.1.2).

After restores, reinstallations etc, I ended up managing to get it to work by switching off auto-sync (under preferences) and manually syncing everything except my Contacts.

That seems to have worked so far. Hope that helps.
