itouch in rice for how long?

Hi I need help with my itouch: I believe the general consensus is to keep it in dry rice for 3 - 5 days. It may all be a moot point though. It has been charged and powered on since it was in water. I suspect permanent damage has been done.

I would have to agree with the other poster, water and electricity do not mix so putting it on the charger prior to completely drying it out was about the worst thing possible. Normally you would leave it in a baggie with raw rice for 3 - 4 days then fully charge it. You can try it but I would say at this point it is a longshot.

From what I have read most 3rd party repair sites will not work on a water damaged Touch your best bet at this point is probably buying a new one. You can try to sell the one you have now for parts on eBay or Craigslist.

But since you did not assure it was completely dried out internally by letting it sit for 4-5 daus, there is no telling if something was fried when you plugged it in only 2 days after it was wet.

If it does not work now, chances are it will continue to not work.

It probably dried off enough to turn on. It's impossible to say whether it will work, but you should leave it in the rice for several days just to make sure it is completely dry.
