How Can I Lock My Mac OS Apps Plsss Help!!!

I'm trying to lock individual applications on my macbook. More like password protect selective applications so they require a password input before they open. Is there an application that can do this? Or anything I can do locally within my mac to achieve this. Thanks a lot for your help....

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 250GB HD, 2GB RAM

Oh no it's not a parental control issue. Just for security purposes because I have a lot important work documents and they are meant for my eyes only. Also multimedia items like personal pictures or videos can be seen via iphoto for instance. You know sometimes you might just forget to log off or shut down before leaving. I have room mates that are not family so I'm just being more careful here.

You can also set your MacBook to require a password on waking from sleep and coming out of the screensaver--and set sleep or the screensaver to activate after a very short period--so that if you forget to log out your roommates cannot access your files. The Security pane in System Preferences is where you can require the password; the Screen Saver and Energy Saver panes allow you to set the timing for those features.

And if you don't trust your roommates, you may want to start looking for a new place ...
