How can I play music with .cda file extension?

I have copied music files previously played on an ipod

The copy program has given them a .cda file extension.

itunes does not recognize these as music files

What can I do (the files are copied onto a Windows XP PC)

What can I do to recognize these in iphobe/ipod?

A .cda file is a pointer to an actual audio CD - it doesn't contain the audio information. The file cannot be played or converted unless you have the audio CD (in which case, just use iTunes to import the tracks).
