CD-Text doesn't burn

Nevertheless: The finished CD does not include any CD-Text.

How do you know?
Apologies if you know this already, but many players don't display CD-Text and sometimes CD-Text is confused with the display of track titles in iTunes or the Finder, which is entirely different.

Here's how to check:

Insert your CD into your Mac

Open Terminal and type:

drutil cdtext

hit return
and the CD-Text data will be displayed if it's there.

Hi, I'm new to WaveBurner and experiencing the same issue. Thanks for the tip re: checking CD-Text in Terminal (my info showed up there) but I can't get it to appear in my CD Player (which supposedly supports CD-Text) and iTunes brings it up with no Artist/Album info and the tracks are all "track 01" etc.

You might want to double-check. If it's displayed via Terminal, but still doesn't show up, I'm stumped: I've never seen that happen.

Repeating stuff from an earlier post:

+Complete your CD mastering. Add ISRC, UPC, CD Text whatever…+
+Burn CD(s)+
+Insert one one your CDs and add titles etc. in iTunes+
+In iTunes, submit CD titles to Gracenote (Advanced menu -> Submit CD titles)+
+Quit iTunes+

+Now, insert one of your CDs into your computer (or any Mac connected to the internet)+
+Open it.+
+Now when you look at the contents, instead of Track 01, Track 02, your titles and the name of your CD will be displayed.+

Hey thanks. You're right. Something is wrong with my player because I checked it out on a couple other players and the CD Text is there.

into the Terminal and see what is says. This is the important line to look for:

CD-Write: -R, -RW, BUFE, CDText, Test, IndexPts, ISRC

First of all thanks. I followed your recommendations. Actually, the CD text is embedded there. But what threw me off, is that when I open the the CD on my desktop, that is all I saw. This is the result of using terminal to obtainthe text:

You're using Tune4Mac which I haven't used and don't know how it behaves.

Is your question that you don't see titles in the finder? Or am I missing your question? See the earlier post above about how to get titles to appear in the finder and in iTunes.

If iTunes doesn't support CD-Text, then why does it give you an option to include it when burning a cd from a playlist? By "support" do you mean "use"?

You're right - "use" is more accurate.

iTunes does not read CD Text without help - although there are some scripts out there which will attempt to do this. When you insert a CD, iTunes looks at the CD Info.cidb, and if it can't find it, it can poll the Gracenote/CDDB.
