Restore Keychain

Lost all my passwords and whatnot in Keychain, (my mistake). Have backup of machine on a Time Capsule w/Time machine. Can I restore the contents of Keychain from the Time Capsule? I tried and it asked were to put it. I navigated to the Keychain in the Ultilities folder, but it is greyed out. Any help? Thanks,
Paul

The normal location for your keychain is ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain. Use Time Machine to restore that in the usual way. When it asks whether to replace your current keychain or copy the old one back under a different name, select the different name. (Any name will do.)

Then launch Keychain Access, and have it open that newly restored old keychain. You'll need the keychain password to do that. Find the key you deleted, and move it over to your current login keychain. Then close the old keychain. It can be safely deleted again.

You could probably have Keychain Access open the old keychain directly in the Time Machine backup, but that I have yet to test.
