Using iPhone as a Remote for PS3

I am finding it impossible to connect my iPhone to my PS3 wirelessly. Neither Bluetooth nor Wireless Network connection using AirPort Extreme seems to be possible. PS3 has an option to register a "mobile phone", and this shows up on the iPhone Wi-Fi Networks, however entering the passcode does not seem to work. I find the PS3 controller clumsy to navigate Blueray movies, and would like a better remote. Has anyone been able to connect iPhone with PS3 successfully?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

not exactly the answer you are looking for, but I had the same issue with the PS3 controller and went with a Logitech solution. Logitech has an IR to Bluetooth controller that works with all their Harmony remotes for controlling a PS3. It works great and gives me one remote for blu-ray playback, TV, Roku box, etc.

Sony also sells a dedicated PS3 blu-ray remote.

It cannot connect via bluetooth - this is not a feature of iphone.

Unless there is an app in the app store, then you cannot do this at all.
