Mail Rule -- Delete Message

Hi all,

I applied a mail rule with the resulting action of "Delete Message", not Move to Trash. I assumed the message that matched the criteria resulting in Delete Message would move them to the trash, but it appears the messages just disappear into thin air from the test I ran.

Does anyone know where these message get stored, or does this rule automatically delete messages forever when received in the inbox?

Also, please take a moment to click My Settings on the right side of this window and tell us which Mac you have and which Mac OS X it's running. 10.6.x ?? That will add a profile to your posts which help to trouble shoot.

Hi,

Thanks for the link, but that still did not answer my question. I'm familiar with the procedure of setting up Mail Rules, and have implemented them for awhile. The specific question I had was that when the action "Delete Message", I'm just curious, where that message actually goes. It appears it is not being moved to the Trash, so is that message being deleted forever?

such messages are immediately deleted without going to trash. they are no longer available anywhere after that. if you don't want this change the rule to move to trash instead.
