Mac OS X 10.6 HP Laserjet 5000N driver ?

Hello,

I went from Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.6. I can not use my printer HP LaserJet 5000 N, which is connected to the local network. The driver I used was "HP LaserJet 5000 Series" and on the Apple site, it should be managed by OS X 10.6. (see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=fr_FR).

Can anyone help me find a solution?

Best regard's
Oliver

I'm having the same problem - I tried reinstalling the HP Printer drivers, but it made no difference. I don't think it's an IP problem. The computer sees the printer just fine - it's got all the printer info and it worked under Leopard. Seems to be something about Snow Leopard. The message is:

"You need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose Software Update from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer."

which comes up after trying to print. (the printer works fine from my MacBook which is still running 10.5.8

OK - I figured this out - at least I figured out what I was doing wrong. Starting with the HP instructions at:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01844302

The trick is: "Select HP Jetdirect - Socket in the Protocol pull down menu." I was picking IP, which sounds like the right thing, but it doesn't work. When I picked Jetdirect-Socket and put in the IP Address, it picked up the right driver automatically and printed right away.
