There are several partition options that Disk Utility presents. There is any advantage between them - such as "no partition map" or "single partition - apple partition map" or "single partition - GUID partition map"? Is one faster than the other for use as a disk image on a wirelessly shared hard drive like the Time Capsule?
if the disk image is used just for data storage then it makes absolutely no difference which partition scheme if any you use. any other kind of disk images like those with TM backups are usually created automatically so don't need to worry about such things.
No.
I would suggest using sparse or sparsebundle disk images as they grow accordingly to the amount
of data stored in them up to their maximum size limit (as set when you create them).

No it's not. It won't boot a PPC machine, nor is it required to boot an ICBM (Intel-chip-based Mac). GUID is only required on the target volume if you're using an ICBM to install the OS. A volume using the APM scheme containing an OS can boot either an PPC or ICBM.
