Question about SMART failure on new HD using ASD 3S123

So I ran the Apple Service Diagnostic disc and FAILED covered my entire screen! uh-oh. The findings-
ERROR-5 (No SMART attributes to check) -- TEST FAILED.
What exactly does this mean? I just installed a brand new HD in this thing and there is no way the drive is bad....is there?
Also, how can I continue the test once it comes across an Error?
answer to either of these questions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
