What file holds my itunes playlists

Hello all. I just finished installing all my music on my new computer from a backup file on an external hard drive. I don't have any of my playlists though in itunes. Does anyone know where the playlists are located in the itunes folder so I can restore them? Is it a file or file extension?

Would appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Dell Studio XPS 435T/9000, Windows 7, 5.5G 80GB iPod Classic. 2400 songs.

Thanks Chris! I'll check it out and see if I can find that file.

The.itl is the main file used by iTunes and conatins all info..
The .xml is created by iTunes for other applications to use iTunes library and contains most, but not all, info.
You can inmmport the .xml to add the playlists.
when you re-install your library you're supposed to actually delete the .itl file and then import the .xml file I thought.

???
To "reinstall", just copy the entire iTunes folder from your backup to the drive you are using.

I have copied all my songs to my new Windows7 (Professional) PC and, following your advice, have replaced the default .itl and .xml files on the new PC with these two files from my old PC. iTunes on the old PC clearly shows all my playlists but these still do not appear in iTunes on the new PC. The new PC has half a dozen extra new songs in its library than the old machine.
Any suggestions?
