The Original Apple TV

Hey there, Apple forums.

I was wondering if anyone can give me as much information as possible on the original Apple TV from the early 90s. As far as I know it pretty much has nothing to do with what most of the world knows as todays Apple TV.

It was something like some sort of communication system used only in Apple (or at least I'm not sure if it was used elsewhere)...

I don't know too much about it, which is why I'm asking here. It is kind of important to me, so please help me out.

Never heard of one. I doubt such a thing existed back then, considering the technology at the time. Are you sure you're not thinking of the Apple Newton? That would be something akin to the grandfather of the iPod touch.

I've never heard of it either, and I've been working pretty closely with Apple since the early 80s (not that I'd have heard of everything, but I probably haven't missed too many Apple products). Either it was actually named something different, or it was indeed something completely internal to Apple and so was never discussed in public, at least in any significant way.

To find out more, you'll probably have to find an Apple employee from that time who would remember that system, whatever it was. A social networking site like LinkedIn might be your best bet for finding someone like that.

My Godfather is where I heard about it from. He was actually the head of it at the time. He recently passed away though (which is how I acquired the merchandise), and I never had the opportunity to really ask him about it. So, I'm hoping someone, somewhere might be able to and the Apple forums seemed like a good place to start.

He was a really cool guy. I got my first computer from him when I was 4 (and it was a Macintosh, of course!). I miss him, and am just wanting to learn more about what he did in Apple.
