can't install CERTAIN apps on my Touch?

Are there apps that are strictly iPhone only?

I was excited to see today that Southwest Airlines finally created an App. However, when I tried to search for it through the App store on my iPod, it said no results were found. So I went to my iTunes and found and downloaded the app. However, if I try to sync it, it automatically removes itself.

I remember this happened before with a different app, a friend with an iPhone told me to download an app but when I tried searching for it on my iPod it would never come up, even though the automatic-fill-in when you start typing in the search would display the app I was looking for. The same thing happens when I try to look for Southwest Airlines on my iPod.

My iPod and iTunes are both up to date.

pverdeflor-

After running a check, I see the App in question. I suspect you're right, because I couldn't find it on my iPod touch, but could in iTunes.

Based on the blurb, it has Ding functionality. I'd say this means they want a phone number, so you can take the call or it can be pushed through on 3G, which iPods don't have.

Yes, and I notice that the Southwest Airlines App requirements mention only the iPhone, which possibly means that the App will not work on the Touch, (since the Touch would normally be mentioned separately). In addition, note that the App description states that "when a DING! fare is made available, you'll be notified immediately on your iPhone". Presumably by text message to your phone number, - in which case, no Touch!

You could be up to date with OS 2, the App requires OS 3.0, but bearing in mind the above, I don't think this is the problem.

This could be because you have more Apps installed on your Touch than the Touch can display. I believe it's nine screens, but I maybe wrong. From what I've read in various (forum) discussions, once you instal more Apps than can be displayed, searching is the only way to find them on your Touch. But if it doesn't "come up", even though the auto fill-in works, then it could be the OS version that is stopping it.

Which version does your Touch have? Look under Settings/General/About.
