Firewire 400 to 800 adapter?

Ok, so obviously the late 2008 and 2009 macbook pros only have Firewire 800 ports.

The cameras from my college only have firewire 400 cables so i cant log and capture footage into final cut pro. Is there such thing as a 400 to 800 adapter/converter? and if so can you direct me to one on amazon or apple e.c.t

The problem MAY BE that the video cameras he is talking about probably need Firewire 400 6-pin to 4-pin cables.

sorry mate, this wont work, .....mmm you see essentially i have a firewire 400 cable in my hand and im trying to get it connected to my macbook pro which only has a firewire 800 input.

Know what i mean, sorry im not good at explaining things?

Here a link to an image, sorry about the quality, i only had my phone available... basically on the left is the input to the camera and on the right the corresponding firewire 400 im supposed to (but cant) put into my computer.

whats the smaller input (not the firewire 400) called? maybe il have to get a "that to firewire 800" cable instead?

OK so you're going to require both items I suggested I think (pics a bit poor so hard to see exactly)

I have just buy that one : doesn't work...
Does it for anyone ? or did i got a broken one ???

my cam = Sony DCR-PC8E
iMovie9 propse only iSight for import...
The camcorder don't indicate "DV-IN3 as before on PC or with my DVD Recorder
