iMovie Exporting to an external hard drive

How can I move an event (anything imported to (iMovie) to an external hard drive (for safe keeping)?

2006 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You will need an external drive that is formatted as MAC OS Extended (journaled).
USB abd Firewire drives are both OK as long as the formatting is right.
FAT32 drives will not work.

Open iMovie.
Click VIEW/EVENTS BY VOLUME
You should se your drive in the Event Library List as a small icon. Drag the icon for your event to the icon for the drive in the Event Library List.
