Screen Sharing with 10.4.11

I have been trying to share a 10.4.11 screen from a Snow leopard machine and have not been able to get it to work. Is it possible? If so is there DETAILED instruction of how do do it anywhere?

When looking at the other machine in Finder I see the sharing button but it won't connect for sharing (but can for file transfer)

My situation... I just got a 27" iMac running 10.6.2, but I still need to run some Classic Apps. I previously used a PowerMac G5 Running 10.4.11 which I passed onto another family member that still let me used Classic (which is why I did not upgrade it to 10.5)

I tried to get SheepShaver up on Running on my new iMac but only have a 9.1 Disk.

I have an older 800 MHz with 10.4.11 which can run classic.

Originally I had hoped to connect that to the video of the 27" iMac... But there are no adaptors and i read if and when they do exist they will be very expensive (this I did not know before I bought the imac)

Anyway one solution (outside of another monitor - not an option financially or space wise now) would be for me to be able to do screen sharing and control the PowerMac from the imac. That would let me use my classic Apps. I was thinking of connecting the machines via firewire 400 which I THINK should give reasonable performance (my router is only 100 Mbit)

Thanks
- Karen

you need to enable screen sharing access on the 10.4 machine and possibly disable the firewall.
you should ask how to do that in the tiger forum, not here. once screen sharing is enabled you should be able to connect to the 10.4 machine from the snow leopard one simply by clicking on "share screen". no configuration at all is required on the 10.6 system. if anything needs to be done it will be on the 10.4 one. as i haven't used tiger in a couple of years can't give any instructions on that. this page seems to explain it

but as I said, ask on the tiger forum for best results.

Mac OS X 10.4 had a built-in screen-sharing host, built on the open source VNC protocol, but failed to include a VNC client. As a result, users could use the Networking system preference to turn on screen sharing:

... but couldn't remotely access their shared screen without getting a third party utility, like the free Chicken of the VNC.

Leopard now has a built-in client:
