you can turn off all system sound effects in system preferences->sounds->sound effect. but that will turn off everything including empty trash sound and so on. I don't believe there is a good way to turn off just the screen capture sound. you can of course delete or replace the system sound file that plays when you take a screenshot but this is not something I would consider doing...

AFAIK, that's the Grab.aif sound that resides in /System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/SystemSounds/ system/. You could replace it with a sound file that has no sound. Details are left as an exercise. Just ensure that you keep a copy and note it's permissions, because the replaced sound has to have the same ones or you'll system will hiccup.
http://www.manpagez.com/man/1/screencapture/ with -x option will mute, but I don't know what you'd gain by using the CLI here. Nor will I elaborate on how to use screencapture this way. You can't possibly take that many screen shots that the camera noise is too much?
