Issue playing H.264 file: video freezes while audio and subtitles continue

Hi,

I'm having issues with every H.264-encoded movie file I have: at different points in each movie, usually less than 5 minutes in, video just freezes while the audio (and subtitles) continue on. These files play with no problems in Windows Media Player on a PC and with VLC in Mac OS X.

Please, I need help fixing this problem.

Can you outline with which applications they don't work properly?

Quicktime X is the one with problems.

What happens if you try QuickTime Player 7 (might be in your Utilities folder depending on your last install)...?

QT7 gives an error about a "invalid public movie atom".

My number one reason to insist on QTX is for the much-hyped H.264 hardware acceleration which I don't think QT7 provides...

More than likely simply a codec error...how were those 264s done?

I hadn't, but frankly I don't care for QT7.

QTX gives no error whatsoever and is my intention to fix it, not the older version.
