how to orient Keynote (portrait vs landscape)

I want to create a Keynote document in Portrait orientation on 8.5 x 11 paper.

I found file > page setup > orientation icons, but even though they seem to respond to my mouse clicks, nothing happens to my keynote document. "Landscape" and "Portrait" search terms yield no returns under spotlight. Help?

I also have an iMac with iLife 09, and was perturbed to find that ITS Keynote doesn't even have a page setup, much less an orientation control! But must I set up a separate discussion account to talk about orientation for that Keynote ?

AFAIK you do this through the 'slide size' option. In the inspector panel, go to the 'left most' icon across the top (looks like a bit of paper with top turned over), and in the document tab look at the 'slide size' entry. Change this to have the second dimension larger than the first, and you'll have a 'portrait' page. You will probably have to define a custom size for this.

If you want to print landscape slides on paper in portrait form (e.g. two slides per page) etc. you do this in the Print dialog box (varies according to printer - but look for option to print more than one slide on page etc.).

Not sure what difference is between keynote and your iMac keynote - or why the page setup is missing. Have you defined a printer? Maybe that has something to do with it. We have iMacs running Keynote and they have page setup etc.
