diferent sound levels on diff seqs

got a strange thing going on in FCP.....
have two sequences in the same project but they appear to have different default audio levels - when I drop the same clip into the two sequences it plays back noticably louder in one sequence than the other.
Is there someway in which there is a sequence level that may have been altered somehow....
and how do you reset it?
