My old G.5 1.8 had a Radeon 9600 video card that crapped out. So for now I took the card from an old G4 (ATY128 pro) the video works fine but on certain apps like VLC I get a black screen. Does anyone know if there are drivers to this for a Mac?
I was told from the VLC forum to clear settings and download the new drivers. meanwhile if I search for ATY it comes up ATI and I cannot fond Mac drivers.
Any help?
Mac Book Pro 2.33 2GB memory / Powerbook 15"- 1.5,
Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Thx but the first URL is for drivers for ATI Raedons, there is no list for drivers for the rage128 pro. The second URL I already saw and same thing, no drivers for ATI 128 pro either
There haven't been any new drivers for the dinosaur of a Rage 128 since the early days of OS X (10.2x and earlier).
The Rage is a 2x/4x AGP card, and is not intended for use as a 8x AGP card.
The problems that you experience are most likely to do with the fact that the Rage does not have the horsepower or bandwidth to run the applications.
Getting and installing a proper 8x AGP card will correct your problem.
No amount of or any driver can help.
Funny, as the old 128 card works fine in my G5 except for the screensaver's choppy video and the black text on the menus being a little lighter. But a new 9800 pro is only 50 bucks and I do graphics work and now see my flash videos look horrible.
