Q: Powerbook Not Recognizing USB Hard Drive

I recently inherited a 40GB USB Hard drive by Apricorn. The Model it says is EZ-BUS. The problem is that when I hooked it up to my Powerbook, the computer didn't recognize it as a drive. But the drive's light is blinking so i know it is connected properly. Has anybody else had this problem or could help me?

Does Disk Utility see it? If so, you probalby just need to format it.

no, it doesn't recognize it anywhere. Disk Utility or Carbon Copy Cloner(the app i'm going to use to back my info up with)

I also have a 15'' superdrive, newest model with 10.4.2 (except 512 RAM). i can not detect a 40 gig apricorn on my powerbook. A friend of mine is sitting right next to me with a 12'' powerbook, 10.4.2 and he is having no problems.

As a rule no USB bus powered drives work with the AL PB's. Add power or take it back and get firewire. Yes they work on iBooks, iMacs, etc. Nothing you can do without some more juice.
