Audio detachment help?

I have imported a movie from my camera to imovie 09 and i want to do stuff with the audio but i do not know where to start.

1st i would like to detach the audio from the movie clip and save it as audio.
2nd i would like to make a ringtone out of it.
3rd i would like to get the ringtone to my iphone.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Select the movie or portion of the movie you want the sound from. Choose Share->Export Using QuickTime..." In the resulting dialog select "Sound to AIFF" from the export menu and save the file. You can use this file in Garageband to create a ringtone. I'm not sure if the default AIFF settings will work for a ringtone. The default might be 16 bit 48kHz which is the standard audio settings for video. You may need to change the bitrate to 44.1kHz.

When you open Garageband select Ringtone from the pane on the left. Once you've created your ringtone choose Share->Send Ringtone to iTunes which will allow you to sync it with your iPhone.
