To-be shuffle owner - Queries

I do not currently own an ipod shuffle but i intend to do so. Shuffle owners pls help to answer the below. Thanks!

Is the clip secure enough to clip onto pants when running?

Can the shuffle play songs when I use my own earphone instead? (I know i won't be able to control the shuffle that way)

And if I add a splitter connecting the in-stock earphone and my own earphone, would I be able to control the shuffle and listen to the music through my own earphone?

YES.

YES, but without volume ongoing adjustment... the Scosche or Belkin shuffle
shuffle control adapters solve this problem.

NO!

Thanks! I'll go ahead with the purchase then 🙂

But I don't understand something though.. why can't adding a splitter allow me to control the shuffle using the in-stock earphone and also listen to the music through my own earphone? Is it because the in-stock earphone must be directly connected to the shuffle to work? Which means with the splitter, my own earphone should still be able to work? just that the in-stock earphone can't control the shuffle.

Splitter is superfluous since remote won't work through splitter...
