USB foot pedal?

Hi all,
Recently, I've been interested in providing closed caption for some YouTube videos. Very new novice at transcribing. However, from what I've read, several sites recommend a foot pedal to start/stop the video. However, I can't find a foot pedal that seems to be compatible with Quick Time player (Sno-Leopard) In fact, one such site I visited, said that Real player, Windows media, and Quick time players were NOT intended to work with foot pedals. Can anyone validate this? Have things changed and maybe there IS a foot pedal that will work with Quick time?
Thanks

Check out the StealthSwitch II. Program keystrokes, hotkeys, mouse clicks. Supports up to 5 footswitches. Universal Mac application for programming. Once programmed all settings are stored in hardware so absolutely no lag or compatibility issues. Store an unlimited number of configurations for different applications and automatically re-program based on which app has the focus. http://www.stealthswitch2.com
