Problem with Urdu/ Arabic font display in motion 3

Hi,

I am having difficulty using urdu/ arabic fonts on motion 3... basically what happens is that which ever fonts that I have installed in the font book that i try to use they do not display correctly what happens is that what ever words that i type are displayed as separate character for instance if I want to write جیت instead of displaying that like that it displays it like this 'ج ی ت' does anyone know of a way that can be corrected as making pictures out of them in photoshop and animating that in motion is a nightmare and I am already running late on deadline...

Any help would highly be appreciated...

regards,
Jibran

Do you have this problem with the font Geeza Pro which comes with OS X? In general for Arabic you must use a Mac font -- Windows Arabic fonts that you download from someplace will not connect the characters.

I was doing some researching and found out the AAT fonts work on the mac properly but I have found only two that display the words properly but dont look professional... I want to use Nafees Nastaleeq but that isn't working and i can't find the AAT copy of that and also i cant find a website that has a selection of Urdu AAT fonts...

If you know of any such website please help out...

Thanks

They don't exist. As far as I know it is just not possible to do nastaliq in Motion. See these articles for info:

Thank you for your help...

here is a link where if you need some mac fonts they are available and they look pretty close to nastaleeq...

http://wiki.irmug.org/index.php/XSeries2

There is also this application developed specifically for macs called nastaleeq nizami

http://pakdata.com/products/nastaleeq-nizami

havn't used that as yet but will be looking into it as i have asked them if there fonts are supported in pro apps... so if the answer is yes then problem solved...

thank you for your help

Thanks. I think those are also reachable via the link given in the Typing Arabic note:

The references to postscript and the obsolete (OS 9 only) Aldus Pagemaker make me think this app is pre-Unicode and most likely not usable for the purpose you intend. But worth looking into, let us know what you find out.
