marker text disappears

I have a similar problem. I have about 12 markers in a project, and slowly throughout the course of editing the names will disappear one after the other. By the time I notice, there will be 3 missing names. The markers are still there, but the names are gone. I must be doing something while double clicking in the top row to start/stop play from a certain position, and accidentally clicking on the marker instead, which causes it do go into the name, then touching anything else erases it.

Weird.

Markers do seem possessed at times. My work-around is to make a duplicate marker track using the alternative track feature. With Logic 9's import feature, it's also very easy to recover from a previously saved version.

My markers disappear also. Not all the time, it seems after you have really put a lot of work into a project.. Occassionally, the marker text turns into gibberish. (look like some weird foreign language, odd symbols etc.) Very frustrating..

Can you explain more how you make alternate markers, that you can retreive?

Within the project, have global marker track open. Also have marker tab open. Go to marker tab (make sure it has key focus by clicking in list) and go command A (select all) and then command C (copy). Go to marker track, select alternative two (or next unused one). Go back and select marker tab, there will be no marker list yet - click to assure key focus. Command V (paste) will copy marker track to new alternative. New identical list will appear. Use this, save the original for a safety.

You can retrieve a marker track from an older (uncorrupted) file using the same copy and paste method in the same manner - copy form old project, paste in new. Also can use import, but that's a different method (equally as good).

I can't tell if you're serious, sarcastic or joking. I received your unedited response in my e-mail - was a little harsher yet, which leads me to believe you're serious. If you are serious and you really speak for everybody, my apologies.

However, I don't think you do....... so why do you feel the need to attack me? We don't know each other (or do we?) - you have no basis for your remarks.

My markers also disappear without reason, and I also get the strange symbols that angelonyc reported. Unfortunately, unlike what enjolis reported, my markers never come back once they're gone.

But... great workaround Doug, I'll have to remember that. Goes without saying, though that I wish it weren't necessary to resort to a workaround.

FWIW, marker text has been flaky since Logic 7. Apparently it's not enough of a priority to fix, o/w, two revs later it wouldn't still exhibit this behavior. Either that, or, like the undo history recall (at least as far as 9.0.0 is concerned) it's "unfixable". Who knows...

I misinterpreted your comments - problem with text sometimes. I thought you were knocking the posting of a workaround, not the fact that workarounds are a pain in the backside and shouldn't need to be dealt with. To which I completely agree, but accept as a necessary evil.
